LEARNING SESSIONS

Betrayal: Family Members and Caregivers
Learn the latest research on exploitation committed by family members and caregivers. Speakers highlight patterns, risk factors, and intervention points identified in recent Texas and national studies. Participants learn how to translate research findings into practical strategies for prevention and response.

Legislation 2027: Texas Priorities
Policy leaders outline recent key federal activity and anticipated legislative priorities for the 2027 Texas session. The session explains how upcoming policies could reshape elder abuse reporting, consumer protections, and cross-agency coordination. Participants learn how to engage effectively in policy advocacy and prepare their organizations for upcoming changes.

Front Lines: Retail, Crypto Kiosks and Financial Institutions Defense Strategies & Barriers
Financial experts examine how banks and other businesses can identify, prevent, and respond to suspected elder financial exploitation. The session explores frontline challenges, regulatory constraints, and opportunities for stronger partnerships with APS and law enforcement. Participants leave with concrete strategies to improve collaboration with financial institutions.

The Real World: Interactive Case Studies & Town Hall
Attendees work through real-world elder financial exploitation scenarios in a guided, interactive format. A panel of experts helps participants analyze decision points, barriers, and ideal cross-agency responses. The session concludes with an open town hall dialogue to surface local needs and solutions
